Onvo Reaches 100,000 Cars Produced: A Look at Nio's Sub-Brand Success (2025)

Onvo, the sub-brand of Nio, has reached a significant milestone by producing its 100,000th vehicle, indicating a triumph in the company’s journey into the mass market. This milestone will coincide with the weekend delivery of this pivotal vehicle, contributing to a remarkable total of 9,721 deliveries made just this month.

At the conclusion of September, Onvo had successfully delivered a total of 90,279 units, comprising 68,707 of the L60 electric SUVs and 21,572 of the L90 models. The news was shared via the Onvo mobile app, shining a spotlight on the brand's impressive growth.

To put this in perspective, last month alone, Onvo managed to deliver 15,246 vehicles, which accounted for an impressive 43.87 percent of the overall deliveries made by Nio Inc., which totaled 34,749 cars during that period. Such figures underscore Onvo's pivotal role within the broader Nio ecosystem.

The Onvo brand, introduced by Nio on May 15, 2024, represents the company’s strategic shift from the premium vehicle segment toward a more accessible market. The inaugural model of this new line, the L60, was officially launched on September 19, 2024, and is designed to compete directly with the Tesla Model Y.

Celebrating its one-year anniversary on September 19 of this year, the updated L60 was introduced, featuring enhancements while maintaining its competitive pricing. The base price of the L60 remains at RMB 206,900 (approximately $29,030), while adopting a 60-kWh standard-range battery. Under the innovative BaaS (Battery as a Service) model, customers can obtain the L60 starting at RMB 149,900, and battery rentals begin at just RMB 599 monthly.

With user-friendly upgrades focused on energy efficiency, intelligent cockpit features, and overall comfort, the updated L60 aims to enhance the driver experience significantly. Cumulatively, by the end of September, deliveries of the L60 had reached an impressive total of 68,707 units.

Onvo also launched the L90 model, a large SUV that debuted on July 31, 2025. This model offers flexibility with six and seven-seat configurations. Deliveries of the L90 began on August 1, with 10,575 and 10,997 units delivered in the subsequent months, showcasing its popularity among customers. Standard with an 85-kWh long-range battery pack, the starting price for the L90 is RMB 265,800, including the battery, making it an appealing option in the SUV market. Alternatively, through the BaaS plan, it starts at RMB 179,800, with a monthly battery rental fee of RMB 899.

Interestingly, the Nio ES8 model achieved its highest delivery volume in September since January 2019, making it the third best-selling model for the brand at that time.

What are your thoughts on Onvo's powerful entrance into the competitive automotive market? Is the BaaS model the future of electric vehicle ownership, or do you think consumers will eventually prefer traditional ownership? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below, as the discussion surrounding these innovative developments continues.
