Great Cruise Confusing Gratuities

This was a transatantic from rome to new york. i did this cruise last year on ncl epic and didn't much like it, but i've been on the gem and other gem class ships and you were never in doublt you were on a ship, no matter where you were. it looked like a cruise ship, smelt like a cruise ship everyone knew. the giant floating shopping centers don't appeal to me. i don't want to have to board

Cruise was recommended by a friend. I usually sail with Royal Caribbean lines. I thought I would try a different one. You really notice the cut backs on this ship. Food wasn’t great service was slow and tables weren’t clean sometimes took other people’s dishes away so we could have their table. Cut back on shows same 3 guys playing piano and singing for the 11 days not much entertainment.

For a 11 day cruise there was only non NCL production and one NCL crew show. The rest of the nights were fill ins that were not all that great. It was some thing to do but not the quality that you would expect from NCL on a 11 day cruise.The breakfast in the buffet was ok it was food but it had no variety. Cabin Type: Balcony

This was our 5th transatlantic and 1st back to back cruise. Things have improved in NYC terminal as far as organization of embarking passengers. We had a "balcony" cabin (somewhat smaller than what we have had in the past) which was fine. The food/bar and housecleaning/general staff went above and beyond and are second to none. Problems we encountered was with guest services and administration.

The cruise was great the food was great entertainment was awesome. Now the 20.00 a day gratuities was very strange. We were told the crew does not recieve the gratuities we were charged. We asked several of the servers they told us they only got what the contract stated. Fantastic crew, especially Cindy in the Orchid restaurant went above and beyond for us every time we ate there. Also Emmanuel Waiter lovely man great service and always happy to help, he served us in various places on board but exceptional in Tappanyaki restaurant. The whole crew couldn't do enough for you. The entertainment was outstanding in every department. Would highly recommend cruising
