Everything to know about the PC Money Account | PC Financial (2024)

In case you haven’t heard, there’s a cool new points-earning payment product on the money management front: the PC Money™ Account. This new account from PC Financial® works like a bank account, but with points. You can use it worldwide, even online, and it’s a great way to make contactless payments and earn PC Optimum™ points at the same time. You can use it anywhere you can use Mastercard® and, what’s more, you earn points for every dollar you spend, everywhere you shop, even online. That means in addition to collecting points when you shop at Loblaws®, Real Canadian Superstore®, No Frills®, Joe Fresh®, Zehrs® and Shoppers Drug Mart®, you can also earn them when you use the card to pick up takeout or pre-order an Americano from your favourite café.

To get started, open an account through pcfinancial.ca or through the PC Financial mobile app and add money to it, either by transferring funds via the Interac e-Transfer® services or linking an external account. Once you’ve done that, you can start shopping—and earning points.

Of course, there are a couple of important things to note: you won’t be able to write or deposit cheques with this account, and you can’t use it to pay merchants who don’t accept Mastercard®. But, most importantly, this is not a credit card. Yes, your PC Money Account has the Mastercard® logo, a $250 tap limit and you can use it anywhere Mastercard® is accepted, but it’s actually used like a bank account. You have to put money into the account first before you can pay using the card.

You can also feel confident that keeping your money safe is our first priority. PC Financial products use two-factor authentication and encryption for added security, and if you see any suspicious activity on your account, you can easily lock or unlock your card using the mobile app or website. The company also has 24/7 fraud detection and support, and President’s Choice Bank is a member of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC), which means your deposits in the PC Money Account are eligible for CDIC protection up to $100,000. The Mastercard® Zero Liability Promise for unauthorized purchases also applies to your PC Money Account1.

And if you’re worried that you won’t be able to physically go to a bank if you have questions about your PC Money Account, don’t be. This is a digital-first account, which means it’s designed so you can do everything you need to through the PC Financial website or mobile app, and access cash through bank machines. Just head to the closest PC Financial bank machine, located in many Shoppers Drug Mart® and Loblaw banner grocery stores for free withdrawals from your account.
